Offshore Insurance
Offshore Contractors Insurance is a scheme which has been designed to specifically meet the needs of contractors working on offshore installations, wind farms, refineries, and power stations.
Offshore Insurance cover can be purchased by contractors who are working as freelancers, or through their own limited company. Cover is available to companies registered in the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man, or individuals paying their taxes in the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man.
Your cover will be valid within these Territorial Limits.
When forming our offshore contractors insurance scheme, our policy wordings were extended in order to meet the unique needs of the oil & gas sector. We offer policy extensions which go further than a normal Employers or Public Liability Policy would generally go.
The offshore & energy industries have been changing for a long while now, and recently the insurance requirements for businesses operating within these sectors have changed significantly.
If you are a contractor who is working through an agency, it will be a requirement that you have certain insurance policies in place. For those who work offshore, these will primarily be Public Liability Insurance and Employers Liability Insurance. It may also be a requirement that you have Professional Indemnity Insurance. Some agencies will have additional clauses included as part of your contract which must be met. These include Waiver of Subrogation, Hold Harmless, Indemnity to Principal Clause and Corporate Manslaughter.
The insurance policies we provide as part of our Offshore Contractors Insurance Scheme have been built with this in mind, and should be suffice in ensuring you meet these conditions.
